A Message from Treasurer Jerry Bucholz

Hello Dear Friends, I am Jerry Bucholz. I love being a member of the Church of Hills family. My wife, Donna, and I moved into our Evergreen home in June of 2004. We moved from Highlands Ranch, CO. We visited the churches in Evergreen over a few months, but were always brought back to Church of the Hills and became members in May of 2005. We joined as the Church was transitioning to a new pastor. It was the friendly and inviting congregation that won our hearts.

 

Soon after joining, Bill Zeeb invited me to join his ushering crew. That was my first step of serving the Lord through Church of the Hills. In June, 2006 I became an elder and was elected to Session where I served as the elder for Member Development and Stewardship. After serving on Session for six years, Pastor Dee and Judy Jensen asked if I would serve as the Church’s Treasurer. I began serving in that function in the Fall of 2013. Session has appointed me to that position each year since. During this time I have served on the Nominating team and for a number of years was the lead on our audio-visual team. 

 

The congregation of Church of the Hills has supported Donna and I through some of darkest hours when a son, a brother and our parents were called home to our Savior. We continue to receive support through our medical challenges. The Blessings we have received, from our Church of the Hills family, are so many that our contributions pale in comparison. God called us here, pointed out our direction of service and continues to bless us with your presence even when we are away.

 

May God continue to bless this church family as we continue on our journey.

We are hiring a Director of Music. With the Pastor and the Worship Committee, the Music Director will plan, organize, and carry out a program of music for Church of the Hills which will enhance and enrich the spiritual and worship life of the congregation.  The Director will be working with staff members, an accompanist, choir, bell choir and musical soloists and groups.  This is a part-time position, estimated to require approximately 10 hours per week.  This link will take you to the full job description.  If interested in applying, please send a letter of interest to Judy Jensen at jensen815@aol.com.

Please join Pastor Richard and members of the Love In Action team Wednesday, May 8, in showing our support for the youth in our community and Resilience 1220.

Love In Action is excited to continue our partnership with Resilience 1220,  a vital, quickly growing, local organization that empowers young people and their families in our mountain communities to build resilience, strength, and the tools to master life's challenges. What does Resilience 1220 do to make this partnership more and more important to Church of the Hills and the Love In Action outreach each year?

Resilience1220 provides free counseling services to youth ages 12-20 in the mountain communities west of Denver. Through individual counseling, support groups and community outreach, they work to raise awareness of the social, emotional, and mental-health issues young adults face, and to provide the necessary life skills to create wellness and resiliency in their lives. Counseling sessions with Resilience1220 teach stress-reduction techniques, tools to ask for and provide help, validation, a place to sort through belief systems, and a non-judgmental place (for clients) to share their feelings. Resilience1220 fosters an environment of mutual respect in which staff, clients, and volunteers can feel valued. They seek to serve all members of our community, without regard to gender, race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, age, sexual orientation or identity, abilities, political affiliation, or education. They are open to all and see diversity as a source of strength.

“Love in Action” is the Church of the Hills mission team.  The primary goal of the Love in Action Team is to serve the needs of others locally, nationally and internationally. The people of Church of the Hills are blessed with unique gifts; although the size of our congregation is smaller, sharing these gifts remains a vital part of our outreach ministry.

The “Love in Action” Committee will guide us to be Christ’s faithful Witnesses. As such, we will share a deep life of service, and participate in God’s mission to care for the needs of the sick, the poor, and the lonely to establish Christ’s just, loving, and peaceable rule in the world.
